Jerome State Historic Park
Project Overview
The Jerome State Historic Park is a significant individual property in the Jerome Historic District National Landmark. The Visitor's Center for the Park is the Douglas Mansion. The Carriage House serves as Exhibit space for historic vehicles, the Park Manger's office, storage and maintenance areas. The Stabilization and Rehabilitation Project covers the Douglas Mansion and Carriage House.
The Douglas Mansion and Carriage House were designed in 1916 by the Architectural Firm of Royal Lescher and John Kibbey, Phoenix, Arizona. The building is constructed of concrete foundation/basement walls, thick adobe walls with heavy timber beam framing for portions of the structures. Other areas have roof truss framing. The Mansion has approximately 9,990 square feet and the Carriage House has approximately 2,270 square feet. The 1916 drawings are included in this Request for Qualifications for information purposes only.
The Mansion and Carriage House are currently exhibiting significant damage within the building and perimeter walls. Large sections of plaster have fallen off the Mansion and the Carriage House and evidence of adobe disintegration is visible. A rotted wood beam has fallen out of the building on the north side and has exposed the deterioration of the wood within the building walls..
